The Federal Government (FG) has criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s statement regarding President Bola Tinubu’s handling of security and economic challenges, deeming it reckless.
According to Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Atiku may still be reeling from his electoral defeat, grasping onto any issue to criticize Tinubu.
Mr Onanuga added that Atiku’s statement lacked decorum expected from an elder statesman, highlighting that the President had implemented all necessary security measures even during his absence from the country.
Mr Onanuga stated that despite Tinubu’s absence from the country, he remained in constant touch with his officials and security chiefs.
According to him, President Tinubu had directed his officials to eradicate all forms of criminality in the country.

He emphasised that his endorsement of the inauguration of the Tripartite Committee on the National Minimum Wage showcased his leadership qualities.
He stated that Tinubu has directed the security chief to apprehend the criminals responsible for the murder of two monarchs in Ekiti State and the kidnapping of some pupils.
“President Tinubu has reportedly ordered security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of these crimes, leading to recent successes, including the arrest of over 139 kidnappers and the rescue of 154 abducted persons in Abuja, Kaduna, and Benue States.”
“Highlighting President Tinubu’s proactive measures, Mr. Onanuga noted that Tinubu had approved a special fund of N50 billion to tackle security challenges in the North East, which is Atiku’s home region.
Furthermore, he stated that funds were allocated to acquire equipment aimed at tracking criminals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to address the growing issue of kidnappings.
Mr Onanuga urged Atiku to recognize the ongoing efforts to restore peace across the country.
