A former house of representatives member and chieftain, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, slumped and died when South Africa scored the Super Eagles during the match last night.

A former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Ika Federal Constituency of Delta State, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, has announced dead.
The politician, who was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, was said to have passed away last night while watching the AFCON semi-finals match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Banana Banana of South Africa.
While explaining how it happened, a source close to the politician confirmed that the politician and medical doctor died during the match, adding that “The incident happened when the penalty was awarded against Nigeria. Dr Ojougboh was said to have shouted and slumped due to massive heart attack when SA scored.”

Though his family has not issued an official statement on his death, yet the Publicity Secretary of Agbor Community Union, Mr Augustine Ekamagule, confirmed the death of the famous Delta politician in a telephone conversation with newsmen.
During the call, he said, “According to the President General of the Agbor Community Union, Chief Laurence Onyeche, Ojougboh died in Abuja while watching the football match of Nigeria vs South Africa.
“He said a member of Ojougboh family had called him around 3am on Thursday, informing him that Cairo Ojougboh had passed away.”
The secretary confirmed reports that the family members who were around at the scene tried all they could when Ojougbon slumped after he shouted but all efforts to revive him were fruitless
Onyeche further added that with the death of Ojougboh, Agbor has lost a voice in Nigerian politics, describing him as the number one politician in Agbor until his death.
President Bola Tinubu and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, along with other political associates have also issued public statements mourning him.
