Bayern Munich squandered an opportunity to claim the Bundesliga’s top spot as they endured a humiliating 5-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Thomas Tuchel’s impressive six-game winning streak in the league came to an abrupt and embarrassing conclusion just before their crucial final Champions League group stage match against Manchester United.
Frankfurt were three up inside 36 minutes following clinical finishes by Omar Marmoush,
Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe and Hugo Larsson as they capitalised on an appalling Bayern defense.

Joshua Kimmich managed to narrow the gap for the visitors by pulling one back just before halftime, but it proved insufficient to ignite a comeback. Dina Ebimbe swiftly reestablished the hosts’ three-goal lead within five minutes into the second half.
The situation escalated further as Ansgar Knauff netted the fifth goal within the hour, leaving Harry Kane without an opportunity to add to his impressive tally of 18 Bundesliga goals.
Despite Kimmich’s effort, Bayern Munich remains in second place with 32 points. The leaders, Bayer Leverkusen, with 35 points, are set to face third-placed VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, who currently holds 30 points.
