Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has lauded the Nigerian Navy for substantially lowering illicit petroleum activities within the state.
Governor Fubara extended his appreciation to the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Emmanuel Ogalla, and other senior officers of the Navy High Command during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
The governor reiterated the significance of resolving the concerns of growing insecurity, criminal activity, and economic challenges that Nigeria faces.
Governor Fubara promised to assist the Nigerian Navy to the hilt and to take all necessary steps to facilitate the organization’s endeavours.
In addition, he urged the Nigerian Navy to think about moving all of its bases to Rivers State, pointing out the benefits of the state’s natural landmarks and favourable maritime terrain.
Ogalla characterised the connection between the Nigerian Navy and Rivers State as symbiotic, according to a statement signed by Nelson Chukwudi, the governor of Rivers State’s chief press secretar.
Mr Ogalla sent gratitude to the state governor, his team, and the people of Rivers State for their assistance, highlighting the schools that were given to the Nigerian Navy in particular.
The Chief of Naval Staff revealed during the tour of the State Government House that the Headquarters of Naval Training Command will be moving from Lagos to one of the institutions that the government of Rivers State has provided.
“We are pleased to announce that the Headquarters of Naval Training Command, Lagos, will be relocated to the school in Eleme tomorrow,” Ogalla said.

Since taking office, Ogalla’s administration has made several arrests and successfully captured fourteen boats that were transporting stolen crude oil.
Investigations are still underway, and the law will punish anyone found culpable, according to the Chief of Naval Staff.
