Members of the All Progressives Congress in the North Central region have declared support for the suspension of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje as the party’s National Chairman, urging the party to return the position to the zone.
The APC stakeholders from the zone bemoaned that Ganduje’s purported imposition on the party was “insensitive and a clear violation of the zoning process” in the party while speaking to reporters in Abuja yesterday.
Their protests followed a recent ban imposed by a faction from Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State, on the embattled National Chairman.
Recall that Haladu Gwanjo, the ward’s legal adviser, convinced certain party leaders to declare the former Kano governor suspended.
Gwanjo claimed that nine executive members of the APC ward made the decision, and he based the alleged suspension on the bribery case that was filed against Ganduje and his wife.
Following the action swiftly, Ganduje was ordered by the Kano High Court to refrain from presenting himself as the national chairman of the APC on Wednesday.
Notwithstanding the ardent efforts of Kano APC to overturn the ruling, which led to the ward executives’ immediate removal from office, the new court order turned out to be a barrier.
But Ganduje was able to secure another injunction from the Federal High Court, presided over by Justice A.M. Liman, which put the court order on hold.
The ruling was given after he filed an ex parte motion seeking to enforce his fundamental right to a fair hearing.
However, the group claiming to be the genuine executives confirmed in the wee hours of yesterday that the troubled chairman was still suspended.
The Coordinator of Concerned North Central, APC Stakeholders, Muhammad Etsu while speaking to journalists in Abuja said the zone is in total support of the suspension.
To correct the problem, the politician appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the APC National Executive Committee to uphold Ganduje’s suspension while attempts were on to return the seat to their zone.

“We urge all party leaders and interested parties to endorse the North Central aspiration.This would fortify the party, bring all interests together, and create the groundwork for a powerful APC that would solidify its position all around.
“Notably, we also urge people of conscience to pressure the ruling party to abide by the High Court of Kano State’s verdict, which forbids Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from leading the APC while the interlocutory injunction is being heard and decided,” he declared.
