After Bassirou Faye was declared the winner of the just concluded presidential election held on March 24 in Senegal, President Bola Tinubu has sent his congratulatory message to the president-elect and the citizens of Senegal.
On Wednesday, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, quoted the president saying that he “wished him success as he takes on this important job of leading the good people of Senegal.”
Also, President Tinubu extended his congratulations to the outgoing president, President Macky Sall, over the peaceful election conducted in Senegal.
“The President also congratulates His Excellency, President Macky Sall, for overseeing an election that has been widely adjudged as peaceful and transparent,” Ngelale stated.
According to Tinubu, the results of the recent successful general elections in Liberia and Senegal have confirmed his long-held belief that democracy is deeply ingrained in West Africa and will only become stronger when “it is watered by good governance, justice, and fairness to all.“

In his capacity as ECOWAS Chairman, the President emphasised emphatically that the smooth running of the Senegalese election helps the subregional body in its endeavours to uphold peace and constitutional order and to foster closer relations among its member nations.
However, while he congratulated the people of Senegal, Mr Tinubu “assured them of Nigeria’s best wishes and support.“
