Tinubu Approves setting up of RCC of Africa-CDC in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the Regional Coordinating Centre (RCC) of the Africa Centres for Disease Control (Africa-CDC) in Nigeria.

President Tinubu serves as the African Union (AU) Champion for Human Resources for Health and Community Health Delivery Partnership.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, stated that the President’s approval of siting the Centre in Abuja is part of his broader effort to demonstrate Nigeria’s commitment to regional and global health security. 

Furthermore, it aims to promote local economic opportunities in the healthcare delivery value chain and enhance Nigeria’s and West Africa’s collective capacity to respond promptly to outbreaks, crucial for the overall well-being and stability of the African continent.

The establishment of the Centre will bring significant socio-economic benefits by enhancing aggregate national productivity and reversing the drain on human capacity.
