In a recent episode of the ‘In My Opinion’ podcast, the “Vision 2020” crooner opened up about his decision to quit smoking weed, citing anxiety and concerns about the future as primary motivators.
The revelation came as a surprise to many fans who had associated musicians with the cannabis culture as it is often glamorized in the entertainment industry. Bella Shmurda confessed that despite his past affinity with smoking weed, he made the conscious choice to abstain from it four years ago due to mounting anxieties about what lay ahead.
“I don’t smoke igbo [weed]. I used to but I started having anxieties smoking weed. I started getting scared of the future. So, four years ago, I stopped smoking weed. I just take cigarettes and liquor,” he admitted.
Contrary to popular belief that marijuana enhances creativity, Bella Shmurda revealed that it had the opposite effect on him. Rather than fueling his artistic endeavors, the drug exacerbated his anxieties, hindering his productivity in the studio.
“Everything I was doing when I was smoking weed, I was having anxieties. At a point, it was affecting me in the studio. I would just be lost in the middle. It wasn’t working anymore. I just have to stop,” he explained.
