Omah Lay has broken his silence amidst the storm of controversy surrounding his recent performance on the European leg of his ‘Boy Alone Tour’ at the Eventim Apollo in London.
The artist has sent a heartfelt shout-out to the female fan he danced with on stage, amidst uproar from fans and critics alike.
In a video circulating online, British-Nigerian media personality Shopsydoo can be heard prompting Omah Lay to acknowledge the fan, whom he identified as Fafa. The singer graciously complied, delivering a heartfelt message to Fafa, declaring, “Fafa, I love you.”
However, reactions to Omah Lay’s message have been varied, with some commending his transparency and willingness to address the situation directly, while others remain skeptical of the sincerity of his words.
The incident in question occurred during Omah Lay’s rendition of his hit track ‘Bend You’, where he spontaneously invited a female fan from the audience to join him on stage. This move sparked a wave of backlash, with many condemning the singer’s actions, especially considering reports that the fan was attending the concert with her boyfriend.

Social critic, Daniel Regha has labeled the incidence as ‘inappropriate,’ reminiscing on days when live performances held more value.
“Omah Lay’s inappropriate dance with a fan on stage isn’t the problem, but the audience who encouraged such performance by cheering ’em; Both should’ve been booed off stage. There was a time when music used to be strictly entertainment, & live performances were mind-blowing, now it’s heavily centered on sexual gratification,” he wrote.
