Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC Detains Ekene Ibegbu For Alleged Currency Racketeering

Ekene Ibegbu has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Enugu for currency racketeering involving N1,580,000. The arrest followed actionable intelligence, and Ibegbu will face legal proceedings after investigations.

News has spread over an alleged apprehension of one young man named Ekene Ibegbu by the EFCC’s Special Task Force, operating under the Enugu Zonal Command, for his alleged involvement in currency racketeering amounting to N1,580,000 (One Million, Five Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira).

While addressing the event of the arrest on Saturday, Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesperson, stated that the suspect was apprehended by some official members of the special task force of the Commission. The task force attached to the Enugu Command on Thursday made the arrest along the Owerri-Enugu road.

In his statement, he said the suspect “would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

The Commission also made a successful effort at rounding up another suspected internet fraudsters on Friday at Kansho Village in Benue state.

According to report, the alleged fraudsters totalled five and their names are “Shima Francis, Ode Jesse, Odey Linus, Kingsley Obinna and Emmanuel Inaleguwu,” Oyewale divulged.

He also revealed the many items such as an iPhone and other android phones were recovered from them.

As confirmed by the EFCC spokesperson, Ekene Ibegbu and others are set to face charges in court once the investigative process is completed.
