It was a wonderful night for the Gunners as Arsenal defeated Liverpool 3-1 at the Emirate Stadium to boost their title hopes and move two points behind Jurgen Klopp’s side.

This victory has officially put Mikel Arteta’s men back into the title race which includes Liverpool and champions Manchester City.

Bukayo Saka helped his team by scoring the opening goal of the game before Martinelli and Trossard crowned the win for the Gunners.

In the first half in particular, Arsenal was more intense than Liverpool. Pressed harder than Liverpool, it seems like the characteristics that have made Jurgen Klopp’s side so feared turned back on themselves.

Arsenal was magnificent off the ball and they showed their intelligence of who did what, and when, was also part of the plan – and it was extremely impressive.

It was a tactical masterclass by Arteta who has not always had the best moments against Jurgen Klopp’s side. He however seemed ready for the Reds.

When Liverpool got the ball, they wanted to get it into Alexis Mac Allister as quickly as possible, but Arsenal were ready for them.

Martin Odegaard was very effective at stopping the ball being fed to Mac Allister when he was pressing high up the pitch with Kai Havertz. But when Mac Allister did get on the ball, Odegaard was not near him; then Jorginho or Declan Rice flew out of their positions to close him down.

This high risk approach to the game was enough for arsenal to secure the three points against Liverpool.
