The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Leaders, Ondo State Chapter, has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration.
CAN on Tuesday further offered prayers for the success of Aiyedatiwa’s led administration.
“The Christian association pledged spiritual and moral support for the success of the administration, emphasising the importance of prayerful solidarity as the new year unfolds.”
CAN Chairman, Reverend Olorunfemi Ologunwa, who led the delegation expressed their appreciation for the governor’s prompt attention in handling critical issues affecting the state.
They applauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for his swift actions since assuming office, acknowledging the various improvements ranging from infrastructure and sanitation to addressing the salary arrears of civil servants.
The delegations extended their heartfelt condolences to the former governor, late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, recognising his contributions to the state’s development.
The leader expressed optimism about the leadership of the state governor, adding that his leadership would bring positive changes to the state.
The spiritual leaders appealed to the governor’s personal involvement in securing land for this purpose.
Furthermore, CAN seeks urgent attention from the governors to the agricultural, educational, and health sectors, as well as the continuation of the return of schools to churches.
Reacting, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the Christian leaders for their visit and unwavering support during this challenging time.
In a statement by Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor acknowledged the prayers offered by the Christian community, both during the tenure of the late Governor Akeredolu and in his administration.

The statement highlighted Akeredolu’s significant contributions across various sectors, including education, health, infrastructure, and the establishment of the Amotekun security outfit.
“Aiyedatiwa addressed the upcoming burial arrangements for the late governor, promising the government’s full involvement to ensure a befitting state burial, including active participation in the planned crusade by the Christian body.”
Reacting to CAN’s requests, the governor welcomed the proposal for an ecumenical centre and urged the association to submit a formal letter specifying a central location. He assured me that the government would facilitate the acquisition of the land.
In regards to food security and insecurity affecting farmers, the governor acknowledged the existing security challenges but promised to enhance security measures in the state.
He emphasised and reassured the leaders about their willingness to work in the health sector, stressing the need to create a safe environment for farmers to cultivate and ensure an adequate food supply for the state.
The governor reiterated the need to properly review the proposal of returning public schools to their former owners and to ensure that changes would not compromise the quality of education provided.
