In the pursuit of reducing hunger, the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, volunteered to supervise the process of distributing the palliative to families in Bama.
Zulum oversaw the distribution of N225 million in cash and food items to over 70,000 vulnerable families in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

On Sunday, Zulum travelled to Bama, spent two nights coordinating humanitarian activities and engaging the security operatives to discuss how best to improve the security of communities and people.
During the distribution, over 45,000 females received the sum of N5,000 in cash and one wrapper each, while 25,000 male heads of households received food items that were shared today.
Adding to that, each male beneficiary received one bag of rice and one bag of maize grain.
According to the post shared on the Governor of Borno State Facebook page, Zulum reiterated that the distribution of food and cash to communities affected by the insurgents and residents struggling to meet their needs would be prioritised in order to prevent people from being recruited to join insurgent groups.
“In continuation of our efforts to provide assistance to the less privileged, we are here in Bama town, Bama Local Government Area. This LGA is one of those severely affected by Boko Haram violence, and access to agriculture and livelihood is still limited,” Zulum said.
