The Yoruba classic “Ti Oluwa Nile” is set to make a remarkable transition from the screen to the stage with a star-studded adaptation titled “Asiyanbi: Ti Oluwa Ni Ile.“
This adaptation is set to be produced by the visionary initiative of Aroba Groove, a production company founded by Oladotun Taylor.
With a star-studded cast led by the legendary Baba Wande, the adaptation is scheduled to debut in June this year, and it boasts of a rich constellation of talents including actors Jude Chukwuka, Aisha Lawal, Ozain, Iya Mufu, Layi Wasabi Lawyer, Yaw, and Agba Inaki.

Speaking on the extent and passion for the project’s execution, its Executive Producer Oladotun Taylor expressed his enthusiasm for pushing artistic boundaries and redefining stage theatre, thereby underscoring the enduring relevance of this classic story that has stayed for decades.
Also, in a recent news conference about the project, Akindeji Ibitayo, the Project Coordinator & Supervisory Producer at Aroba Groove, emphasized the significance of retelling African stories in a compelling and dynamic manner against the backdrop of Nigeria’s journey through colonization, early and late independence, and the democratic evolution that ensued.
The adaptation, written by Shola Balogun and directed by Ropo Ewenla, covers an array of diverse themes from the classic —themes such as deceit, greed, and traditional values.
The film, Ti Oluwa Nile, was initially written by veteran actor and producer Kareem Adepoju, fondly known as Baba Wande, and first graced the literary landscape in 1987, but hit its hay days in cinema in 1993. It was directed by Tunde Kelani and produced by Mainframe Films and Television Productions.
It captivated its viewers with its themes of intrigue and justice.
