The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed readiness to work with the Federal Government to address humanitarian and poverty-related issues in Nigeria.

The summit commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for his efforts so far in this direction.
UAE Ambassador to Nigeria Salem Saeed Al Shamsi made the announcement while leading a team from the Embassy and Noor Dubai Foundation to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Abuja.
The ambassador described the relationship between his country and Nigeria as symbiotic; “Nigeria remains a strong ally of the UAE and we will continue to work with Nigeria in key areas such as humanitarian aid, job creation, nutrition, health development and poverty reduction.”
Responding, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, commended the government and people of the UAE for their timely action in critical sectors in Nigeria. The Minister particularly thanked the Ambassador and his team for the steps taken to support Nigeria in various ways.
He noted that the president has a great plan to eradicate poverty in his eight-point plan and has begun to fully implement it, therefore it is important that they identify areas of collaboration for the benefit of Nigerians.
Also, the Managing Director of Noor Dubai Foundation, Dr. Manal Taryam, said the foundation has been involved in humanitarian operations, including an eye care program that has started in Katsina state, while logos and Abuja will be launched soon.
He said that the Dubai Foundation has a number of areas that are directly related to the mandate of the ministry and he is happy to support them. The meeting was attended by SSA President Community Engagement SW Hon Moremi Ojodu and SSA School Feeding Hon Yetunde. Among others.
