Troops of the Nigerian Army, operating in Division 1 Area of Kaduna State have neutralized insurgent kingpins and recovered arms and ammunition in the ongoing offensive today.
In response to recent insurgent attacks in Igabi and Giwa Local Governments of Kaduna state, troops launched operations to flush out insurgents from these areas and restore peace to the affected communities.
During a fighting patrol along the Maganda-Dausayi-Mugaba axis, the Nigerian Army troops encountered insurgents who used rustled herds of cattle as shields.
Despite the insurgents’ attempts to hide within the cattle, the troops swiftly engaged them in a firefight lasting about an hour.
An undisclosed number of the insurgents were neutralized, and significant recoveries were made, including 1 AK 47 rifle,1 AK 47 Magazine, 3 rounds of 7.62mm Special, 1 Techno phone, 3 Hilux and motorcycle keys, wraps of substance suspected to be marijuana, tramadol tablets, and the sum of 13,200 naira only.
Some of the rustled livestock, unfortunately, became casualties in the crossfire. However, the troops remain committed to pursuing fleeing insurgents and securing the area.

In a separate operation conducted by troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday 22 February, 2024, along the Bada – Riyawa axis on the Kaduna – Birnin Gwari Road, the gallant troops ambushed marauding insurgents.
The ambush resulted in troops neutralizing 6 insurgents and recovering 2 AK-47 rifles, 5 AK-47 rifle magazines, 300 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and destroying 19 motorcycles.
