Accompanied by some officials, President Tinubu was reported to have arrived at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri to grace the inauguration ceremony of the governor of the state, Hope Uzodimma.
The inaugural service, which is currently being held at Owerri to mark the beginning of the Governor’s second term in office, shares date with the 2024 wreath-laying ceremony of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, also taking place in Abuja.
Having participated in the memorable service of the Remembrance Day earlier on Monday 15th January 2024, the President left and took flight to Imo State in honour of the Governor’s inauguration, arriving the scene at 1pm.
Along with a number of high political dignitaries in the South-East, the United Nations’ (UN) award-winning governor, Uzodimma, welcomed the President to the important political event.
Also, at the venue are many political leaders in the country, many of whom are friends with the Imo State governor. Among these eminent states leaders who graced the occasion are the Nigerian ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Valentine OnyekaChukwu Ibezim, the Anambra State governor’s representative, among others.
The governor however had expressed his mind before the inauguration this afternoon on his social media platforms, saying, “Dear wonderful people of Imo State, it is with profound humility that we witness this auspicious day of my inauguration for a second term as your servant leader,”
“Your unwavering support has not only filled my heart with gratitude but has reaffirmed our collective commitment to the great Imo State. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to each one of you, for your trust and confidence. Together with my incoming Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, and our dedicated team, we pledge to uphold the mandate you have entrusted to us.
