The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, has approved the appointment of Adamu Laka as the National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre on Tuesday.
The announcement of the new position of National Cordinator was disclosed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, who stated that the office where Mr. Adamu Laka will be carrying out his duties is under the National Security Adviser.
He further mentioned that the new commander has served in several offices, including in the north-east of Nigeria, where “he deployed tactical means to degrade terrorist groups.”
Moreso, during his previous service, he served under the United Nations while he was in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was revealed that the new appointee was also part of the Nigerian contingent in the US AFRICOM exercise in Senegal.
In the statement, it is said that “he holds Master’s Degrees in National Security from the National Defence University, Pakistan, and in International Affairs and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy.”

According to the statement, Tinubu was believed to have sustained faith in Mr. Laka’s ability to effectively halt the security threat in the country.
“The President anticipates that General Laka will bring his vast experience into this critical role to effectively remove security threats through pre-emptive, proactive, and diligent counter-terrorism coordination,” Ngelale said.
