Renowned American pop sensation, Taylor Swift, has ascended into the ranks of the world’s wealthiest individuals, securing a spot on the prestigious Forbes World’s Billionaires List for the first time.
With a staggering net worth of $1.1 billion (£877 million), Swift joins the likes of tech magnate, Elon Musk, and AI chatbot creator, Sam Altman, in the elite league of wealth.
The Forbes report revealed that the number of billionaires worldwide has soared to a record-breaking 2,781 individuals for the year 2024, marking an increase of 141 from the previous year. These billionaires collectively hold a staggering wealth of $14.2 trillion (£11.3 trillion), underscoring the unprecedented wealth accumulation among the global elite.
Swift’s inclusion in the billionaire club is attributed not only to her phenomenal success in the music industry but also to her ventures beyond the realm of entertainment. Her album “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” emerged as the best-selling vinyl LP of last year, further solidifying her status as a cultural icon.
Beyond the musical achievements of Taylor Swift, her influence extends to the realm of sports, where her presence at American football games alongside her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, has been credited with boosting NFL viewing figures.
The Forbes list also highlights the dominance of American billionaires, with eight out of the top ten richest individuals hailing from the United States. Tech tycoon Elon Musk follows closely behind French luxury goods titan Bernard Arnault and his family, with a net worth estimated at $195 billion (£155 billion).
