In the development regarding the tragic killings of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, the Magistrate Court has taken decisive action by remanding one Bubuga Lede, aged 25, suspected to be involved in the heinous crime.
Magistrate O. F. Bamidele, presiding over the case, ordered the defendant’s remand at the correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti for 30 days, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. This decision followed the gruesome murders of the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin, and the Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Olatunde Olusola on January 29.
During the court proceedings, Police prosecutor, Inspector Osuolale Yomi, presented the case, alleging that the suspect, represented by Barrister Olusoji Oladele, was involved in a conspiracy to kidnap and attempt to murder the two monarchs.
Additionally, he (Lede) was also accused of attempting to abduct Oba Samuel Adebayo Fatoba and his driver, Bamidele Ibikunle Joseph.
According to Osuolale, Lede was apprehended in Ikole-Ekiti on January 29 while in possession of offensive weapons. The charges against him fall under sections 280, 241, and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

Further legal proceedings are contingent upon the legal advice to be provided by the State’s Directorate of Public Prosecutions, as emphasized by Magistrate Bamidele. The case has been adjourned until April 24 for further hearing.
This development however underscores the commitment of the judiciary to ensure justice is served for the victims and their families, as well as the determination of law enforcement agencies to apprehend perpetrators of such heinous crimes.
