Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped two places in the latest FIFA ranking, but the three-time African champions are still ahead of their West African rivals Ghana.
The Super Eagles were ranked 28th in the world, according to the February ranking, but dropped to 30th in the latest ranking released on April 4, following the team’s mixed results in last month’s international break.
This included a 2-1 victory over the Black Stars of Ghana in Finidi George’s first game and a surprising 2-0 loss to the Eagles of Mali a few days later.
As a result of their mixed performance, the Super Eagles dropped two places to 30th in the world ranking.
However, the most decorated African team is still far ahead of Ghana, who dropped one spot to be ranked 68th in the world.
The Super Eagles are also ahead of Erling Haaland’s Norway (47th), Mohamed Salah’s Egypt (37th) and co-host of the next World Cup Canada (49th).
Also, despite dropping two spots, Nigeria remains third on the African continent behind Morocco (13th) and Senegal (17th).
Egypt (37th), Cote d’Ivoire (38th), and Tunisia (41st) complete the rest of the top five on the African continent.
