A 23-year-old stepmother, Rachel Geoffrey, has been apprehended for human rights violations by the Adamawa State Police Command at the Federal Housing Estate, Girei Local Government Area.
The statement released on May 18 stated that Geoffrey was arrested on May 15, 2024, after “intentionally inflicting severe physical injuries on her stepchildren, Genesis Geoffrey (7-year-old) and Ijadai Geoffrey (3-year-old), on May 14, 2024.”
The notice signed by the force spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, described that the children have been facing a series of attacks that violate human rights since the separation of their parents.

Meanwhile, the announcement noted that the recent attack on the children was when she set fire on them after eating the food which she had prepared for their father.
It was learned that before carrying out the attack on them, she had tied their hands with a handkerchief to avoid resistance.
In addressing this issue, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, said action will be taken against the alleged perpetrator of this heinous act. He therefore appealed to citizens, especially parents, to ensure the provision of needs for their wards in order to discourage immoral behaviour.
