The factional Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Ehie Edison who is believed to be very loyal to the embattled Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has resigned as Speaker and member representing Ahoada-East constituency II in the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.
In a letter dated 29th December, 2023, Edison claimed to have resigned from the house as a member as well as speaker of the House of Assembly.
He, according to the letter, thanked the members who gave him support and the people of his constituency for the opportunity to serve.
His resignation may be unconnected to the Abuja peace accord entered by Governor Fubara at the instance of President Bola Tinubu over the political impasse in the state. The factional former Speaker who represents Ahoada -East Constituency II in the 10th Assembly addressed the letter to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
