The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is set to inaugurate the nation’s inaugural online portal for passport application today in Abuja.

The initiative aims to streamline and modernize the passport application process for both international and Nigerian applicants.

During a demonstration session held on Friday, Minister Tunji-Ojo showcased the online portal alongside Caroline Adepoju, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

The minister had previously announced in December that the Federal Government was diligently working towards implementing a fully automated passport application system, noting that the process was “99 per cent done.”

Passport Application

The newly launched online platform will enable applicants to submit their passport applications electronically, including the uploading of passport photos and supporting documents.

Minister Tunji-Ojo outlined the fee structure, indicating that Nigerian applicants opting for a 32-page passport with a five-year validity would be charged N25,000. On the other hand, those seeking a 64-page passport with a 10-year validity would pay N70,000.

For foreign applicants, the fees vary with a $130 charge for a five-year validity period and a 32-page passport, while a 10-year validity period with a 64-page passport will cost $230.
