Former social media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, took to social media to launch criticisms against the economic policies of former President Muhammadu Buhari, while crediting President Bola Tinubu for efforts to restore Nigeria’s economy.
In a blunt statement shared via his X handle, Reno asserted, “Buhari Destroyed The Economy. Tinubu Is Trying to Restore It. That’s just the honest truth.”
He highlighted the negative impact of Buhari’s administration on Nigeria’s economy, emphasizing the mismanagement of important financial resources.
Omokri expressed concern over the alleged pre-sale of Nigeria’s oil reserves by Buhari, leaving the nation with diminished resources.
He lamented, “Even our oil sales are useless to us now, because Buhari sold them in advance and pocketed the money.” Omokri further criticized Buhari’s borrowing practices, which increased the nation’s debt.

Omokri, on the other hand, acknowledged the ongoing efforts to address economic challenges by President Tinubu, accusing Buhari’s administration for subsidizing the exchange rate with $1.5 billion monthly, hiding the true value of the Naira.
Furthermore, Omokri accused Buhari of deceiving the public regarding Nigeria’s foreign reserve position, alleging that the funds were used to guarantee loans rather than strengthen the nation’s financial security.
He call Buhari’s governance style a “criminal enterprise,” denouncing the alleged enrichment of his “former recharge card selling nephew” at the expense of national prosperity.
Omokri argued that Buhari’s actions would have warranted prosecution if committed by his predecessor, President Jonathan.
Addressing political issues, Omokri criticized certain opposition figures for exploiting Nigeria’s economic challenges for personal gain.
He asserted, “Some of us are playing politics with it because they lost the 2023 election, and as far as they are concerned, if they did not win, Nigeria must collapse.”
