Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Hon. Clarita Ogar, who contested for the House of Representatives seat for Yala/Ogoja in the 2023 general elections.
In a heartfelt condolence message shared publicly, Obi described Ogar as “not just a patriot but also a fearless woman who stood for justice and a better Nigeria.” He revealed that he had reached out to Ogar’s family days earlier to confirm the sad news of her death.
“With a weighty heart, on behalf of the entire Obidient family, I regret to announce the untimely passing of our dear sister and comrade, Hon. Clarita Ogar,” Obi wrote.
“I want to again sincerely offer my condolences on behalf of my family and the Obidient family.”
Obi praised Ogar’s courage and dedication, highlighting her unwavering commitment to building a fairer nation through active politics under the Labour Party banner.
“May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may God give her family and all of us the fortitude to bear her sad, irreplaceable loss,” he added.
“God Almighty continue to bless her family and all the Obidient family always.
Clarita Ogar, who ran on the Labour Party ticket, was known among supporters for her outspoken advocacy and grassroots activism. Her passing has prompted an outpouring of grief and tribute messages from members of the Obidient movement and beyond, many of whom remember her as a symbol of hope and resilience.
Ogar’s family has yet to announce details of her burial arrangements.
