Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has promised to ensure the payment of outstanding arrears of salaries, recruitment of more health workers as well as the training and provision of working tools for the civil servants in the state.
Gov. Aiyedatiwa stated this on Tuesday at the annual prayer organised by the civil servants in the state to usher in the new year.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Governor said: “We will forge ahead with the approval already given for the recruitment of health workers as a way of strengthening the health sector while recruitment for vacant positions will be done regularly as the need arises.”
Aiyedatiwa warned civil servants to desist from partisan politics especially as the state prepares for a crucial off-season governorship poll.
“This is an election year; let everyone know that the peace of the State is not negotiable and the election is not a do-or-die affair,” the governor warned.
The governor, who thanked the workers and the labour union in the state for their support to the government, assured that the welfare of the civil servants will be given priority attention.
Earlier, the Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele, commended the Governor for the continuous support in all areas about issues affecting public servants in the State.
The Head of Service commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for being worker-friendly, especially in the areas of regular promotion of staff with financial benefits, and equitable distribution of palliatives to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy,
Other achievements of the governor mentioned by the Head of Service were the payment of a 35,000 wage award, the presentation of SUV cars to 30 Permanent Secretaries, and other welfare packages aimed at enhancing efficiency.
