Tomorrow marks the commencement of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (NNPC) highly anticipated 13th Sports Fiesta, slated to take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
This event underscores NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to fostering physical well-being among its workforce for enhanced organisational productivity. The 2024 theme is Healthy Workforce, Productive Organisation.
The event is however scheduled to span a week and promises spirited competition and friendly rivalries. Participants will be engaged in a wide array of sporting activities, including football, basketball, volleyball, chess, squash, scrabble, 8-ball pool, golf, tennis, table tennis, badminton, swimming, and athletics.
Adding to the excitement is a special novelty match pitting the NNPC Ltd. Football Team against an ensemble of ex-Super Eagles players, led by the legendary Austin JJ Okocha. This exhibition match is expected to captivate audiences and inject an extra dose of excitement into the proceedings.
This year, the restructuring of NNPC Ltd.’s zones into three teams, representing the core values of integrity, excellence, and sustainability, aims to promote unity and camaraderie among employees.
Beyond its recreational aspects, the Sports Fiesta serves as a platform for identifying talent to represent NNPC Ltd. at the upcoming Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) in April 2024. With a history of success in NOGIG, NNPC Ltd. is poised to defend its Overall Winner title.
In the previous edition of NOGIG held in 2020, NNPC Ltd. demonstrated its prowess by securing an impressive haul of 48 medals, including 13 gold, 16 silver, and 19 bronze.
