The 2023 presidential candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has expressed his belief that the Nigerian military possesses the capability to effectively address the current security challenges in the country, provided they receive adequate motivation.
Mr Kwankwaso, who also serves as the National Leader of NNPP, made these remarks following the party’s National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja.
Highlighting his extensive experience as a former Minister of Defence and Security Officer of Kano State for eight years, Kwankwaso emphasised that tackling the security challenges is primarily the responsibility of the Federal Government.
However, he stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and citizens, urging Nigerians to provide crucial information to security agencies.
According to Premium Times’ report, former Minister of Defence underscored the severity of the security situation, noting that the level of intervention required is at the capacity of the Nigerian military.
Furthermore, he lamented the impact of insecurity on daily life, including the inability of people to safely access their farms and the rampant abduction of children by criminals and bandits.
Asserting that the NNPP has a viable plan to address the security crisis and other challenges facing the nation, Kwankwaso positioned his party as the beacon of hope for Nigerians, criticising the failures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in addressing these issues.

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, speaking at the meeting, urged party members to demonstrate unwavering dedication, emphasising the importance of complete loyalty to the NNPP.
Governor Yusuf, therefore stressed the necessity of unity within the party to effectively pursue its goals and objectives.
