Minister of Budget Addresses Economic Challenges and Solutions in Nigeria

The Minister for Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu (CON), took a proactive stance on addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges and potential solutions during a recent interview.

In a live interview with TVC, the Minister of Budget discussed possible solutions to Nigeria’s economic challenges.

He touched on crucial aspects of the budgetary process while stressing the importance of the executive and legislative arms of government working together.

The Senator gave a breakdown of the constitutional framework guiding the budgetary process in Nigeria, he highlighted the shared responsibility between the legislature and the executive.

Also, he acknowledged the historical disparities between the executive’s proposed budget and the final version approved by the National Assembly.

The Minister credited the improved cooperation between the government branches to the increased involvement of experienced lawmakers.

Similarly, Senator Bagudu stressed the need for effective oversight and collaboration between the executive and legislative bodies regarding budget implementation.

He urged National Assembly members to understand the country’s urgent needs while judiciously allocating and utilizing funds.

In addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges, the Senator recognized ongoing programs like the National Social Investment Program and the President’s support for a social security scheme for unemployed citizens.

He stressed the necessity of economic reforms aimed at benefiting the masses, despite initial obstacles.

Moreover, Senator Bagudu revealed the President’s directive for nationwide food distribution which is designed to support vulnerable people and curb food price inflation.

He applauded the favourable reception of Nigeria’s economic policies by both the investment community and rating agencies.

The Minister however expressed optimism that more investment would come in to fix infrastructure and education issues, bringing the renewed hope promised to the nation.
