It was a shocking incident on Thursday night when kidnappers infiltrated the Nigeria Post Army estate in Abuja, resulting in the abduction of two individuals.
The incident unfolded around 10:00 p.m. in the Phase 2 area of the estate, specifically targeting the residence of Barrister Cyril Adikwu.
The assailants, reportedly armed and firing shots, forcefully entered the estate and seized the wife and one in-law of Barrister Adikwu. Fortunately, Barrister Adikwu managed to escape the abduction attempt.
Austine John, a neighbor of the victim, described the terrifying sequence of events:
“It all started at about 10:00. We suddenly started hearing gunshots, and immediately we knew something was wrong. I quickly went out to make sure my gate was well locked. Then we heard the gunshot in the barrister’s house, and then we alerted the estate’s management, who immediately swung into action.
“In a short time, army personnel came around and started shooting too, but before they arrived, the kidnappers had taken the wife and one of the in-laws of the barrister.”

The brazen attack has left the community on edge, with residents expressing fear and anxiety over the possibility of further incidents. Austine John urged authorities, including President Tinubu, to address the rising menace of kidnapping in the country and take decisive action to bring it to an end.
He added that the abduction which was carried out within the secure confines of an army estate underscores the audacity of the criminals involved.
