Katsina, Nigeria — The Katsina State Governor has formally announced the funeral arrangements for Nigeria’s late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away recently.
In a statement released Monday, the Governor shared that Buhari’s burial will take place in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, in line with Islamic rites and the wishes of his family. The burial ceremony is set to attract national figures, dignitaries, and thousands of citizens wanting to pay their final respects to the late statesman.
According to the statement, funeral prayers will be conducted at the central mosque in Daura, followed by interment at the family cemetery. Security agencies have been mobilized to ensure the smooth running of the solemn event, and special arrangements are in place to manage the expected large crowds.
“President Buhari was not just a leader of Katsina but of the entire nation,” the Governor remarked. “This is a moment for Nigerians from all walks of life to reflect on his legacy and pray for his soul.”
