Cross River Governor, Bassey Otu, has pledged to compensate singer Adewale Mayowa, popularly known as Mayorkun, for the jewellerry stolen in Calabar, the state capital.
Mayorkun revealed this news via his X handle, formerly Twitter, today.
Expressing his appreciation, Mayorkun stated that the governor assured him of Calabar residents’ renowned hospitality.
He further offered a N5 million reward for the safe return of the remaining missing jewellerry, demonstrating his confidence in the community’s sense of integrity.

Singer Iyanya Mbuka, known as Iyanya, previously announced the recovery of one of the stolen jewellerry pieces.
In response to Governor Otu’s promise to reward Mayorkun, the Calabar-born artiste commended the governor for his decisive action following the theft incident.
“One thing you can never take away from a leader is their ability to step in and deal with issues definitively,” Iyanya stated.
He further committed to bringing Mayorkun back to perform in Calabar and ensuring the safety of artistes’ belongings, both those performing at the ongoing Calabar Carnival
Iyanya responded to Mayorkun’s concerns, assuring him that the unfortunate incident was an isolated event and will not be repeated. She emphasized that Calabar remains a safe city with much to offer, boasting about its diverse attractions and positive attributes.
Earlier on Monday, Mayorkun announced on his former Twitter handle (now known as X) that he would no longer perform in Calabar following the theft of two pendant necklaces.
