To address food inflation and ensure food security, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, has initiated the distribution of maize palliatives and commodities to livestock farmers across the state.
The event, which took place in Akure on Monday, marked the distribution of 40 trailers of grains by Governor Aiyedatiwa,
The Federal Government supplied the grains distributed to poultry, piggery, and fishery farmers spanning the 18 local government areas.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the urgency of tackling the rising cost of food items, attributing it in part to the recent subsidy removal on petrol.

Rising inflation on food items and others have made life somewhat unbearable to the people.’
Furthermore, he highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring not only the availability but also the affordability of food for the populace.

Acknowledging the important role of agriculture in the state’s economy, Aiyedatiwa noted Ondo State’s role in supplying 75 per cent of tomatoes to markets in Lagos State.
However, the governor disclosed plans for further distribution of various food commodities, expressing gratitude to the Federal Government for its support.

Wemimo reiterated the committee’s dedication to the governor’s agricultural initiatives, urging farmers to use the provided resources effectively to contribute to price stabilization.
With a vision of becoming a leading agricultural hub, the committee pledged to address farmers’ challenges promptly, thus solidifying the state’s position on agriculture.
Meanwhile, an award was presented to the governor at the event by the Ondo State Agricultural Commodities Association (OSACA).
