The Delta State Police Command has warned its indigenes against the dangers of inhaling fumes from generators.
Its Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright in a statement on X, said the State zonal command has made it their obligation to warn and educate people about the hazardous effect of fume.
“Generator fumes are dangerous. It kills!!!” he stated.
The PRO narrated how an example of the repercussion of these dangers was revealed in the story of a mother and her son who died in Asaba two days ago while her daughter was currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
It was reported that while the generator was working, rain started and it was moved inside the house where they continued using it.
Unfortunately, the duo slept off. During this time, they had breathed in enough of the generator fume which later caused the unfortunate event.
The mother and the son were suspected to have died of generator emission (carbon monoxide) – after which the daughter was rushed to the hospital.
