EFCC Apprehends Suspect in Currency Racketeering Scheme

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained Ekene Ibegbu over allegations of engaging in currency racketeering amounting to over N1.5 million.

According to a statement released by Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the anti-graft agency, the arrest took place on Thursday along the Owerri-Enugu Road by members of the Special Task Force of the Commission stationed at the Enugu Command.

Oyewale emphasized that the arrest came following actionable intelligence regarding Ibegbu’s alleged involvement in currency racketeering activities.

The suspect would face prosecution as soon as our investigations are finalized,” Oyewale stated.
