Nigerian singer, Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, announced his appointment as the Executive Assistant on Entertainment to Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
The singer took to his Instagram page on Wednesday to share the news. He expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori and pledged to utilize the position effectively.
Harrysong officially assumed the role on December 22, 2023, as per the appointment letter.
Subsequent to his new responsibilities, Harrysong outlined upcoming events, including the ‘Kingmaker‘ set for March 30. The Sherrified and Ukodo International Festival 2024 is also coming up this same year.

Acknowledging the honor bestowed upon him, Harrysong thanked Governor Oborevwori for entrusting him with the office. He assured both the Governor and the people of Delta State that he would make good use of his position.
The singer’s message on Instagram reads thus:
“Newly appointed E.A (Executive Assistant) Entertainment to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O Oborevwori. Thank you, my Governor. Now, address me as Hon. Superstar Harrysong. Thank you so much my Governor for entrusting me with this office to work. Deltans, get ready for ‘Kingmaker’ on March 30th. Sherrified and Ukodo International Festival 2024.”
As a result of this new development in Harrysong’s life, the Afro-Pop star has joined the list of Nigerian musicians who also have ventured into politics. These stars include musicians like Iyanya, Onyeka Onwenu, alongside Nollywood creatives like Mercy Johnson, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Dayo Adeneye, and many more.
To this significant event, netizens showed positive attitudes and came all out to celebrate Harrysong’s new official position as the Executive Assistant on Entertainment with congratulatory messages.
Harrysong was born in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria to Ijaw parents but moved to Lagos in 2007 after spending some of his early life in Port Harcourt. It was in Lagos that he saw the light in his music career after his tribute song to Nelson Mandela.
It was the song that gave him his first award, Most Downloaded Callertune Award. Since then, his life has never remained the same on the entertainment scene.
