In a horrifying attack, Boko Haram militants, clad in military attire, have ruthlessly taken the lives of 12 individuals and abducted one in the Gatamarwa and Tsiha communities within Borno State’s Chibok Local Government Area.

Borno State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso Kenneth, has confirmed the tragic incident, reporting the recovery of 12 bodies and injuries to two individuals during the assault.

The gunmen shot sporadically at the people in the two communities. So far, 12 corpses were recovered, and two were injured,” stated Kenneth, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

The police commissioner and other security heads have initiated a discreet investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The terrorists reportedly launched their assault on Gatamarwa around 5 pm on New Year’s Day, targeting mourners returning from the community. Sources revealed that the heavily armed insurgents, equipped with AK-47 rifles, arrived on motorcycles and in Hilux vans, unleashing chaos upon the unsuspecting populace.

Subsequently, they attacked the Tsiha community near Shikarkir, resulting in the killing of three people and the abduction of a young lady. The assailants further exacerbated the tragedy by burning houses after looting food supplies.
