In a dazzling triumph at the 2024 Grammys, the sibling duo, Billie Eilish and Finneas, have clinched the prestigious award for Best Song Written for Visual Media with their enchanting Barbie ballad, “What Was I Made For?“
The song not only secured the coveted trophy, but also marked a unique dominance of the category by Barbie the Album.
Nina Corcoran, reporting for Pitchfork on February 4, 2024, spotlighted the sheer dominance of Barbie the Album in the category, with notable contenders such as Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night,” Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World,” and Ryan Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken.”
The only exception to the Barbie extravaganza was Rihanna’s powerful contribution, “Lift Me Up,” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Music From and Inspired By.

The triumph of “What Was I Made For?” follows closely on the heels of Barbie the Album, securing the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and solidifying Eilish’s presence as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
This latest achievement adds to Eilish’s already impressive Grammy history. Before the ceremony, she boasted seven Grammy Awards – most of which she earned in 2020.
At just 18 years old, Eilish made history by becoming the youngest artist ever to be nominated for and win awards in all four major categories on the same night: Album, Record, and Song of the Year, as well as Best New Artist.
