Following the Osun State Government’s review of petroleum pricing, Kazeem Akinleye, the chairman of the Petroleum Monitoring Taskforce, has cautioned petrol station owners against raising petrol prices and hoarding goods inside the state.
In a notification, Akinleye, the state governor’s chief of staff, stated that the state’s fuel supply situation will deteriorate due to the majority of filling stations’ ongoing practice of raising prices and hoarding fuel.
According to Akinleye’s declaration, the majority of marketers in the state are purposefully hoarding gasoline in order to create an artificial scarcity, according to surveillance data that the investigation team has been using for the last three days.

The Taskforce Chairman warned affected filling stations to immediately open their tanks and dispense fuel to the public.
He also urged marketers to consider the harsh economic situation and price petroleum products reasonably.
However, Akinleye said failure to stop hoarding fuel and consider the economic situation would result in severe sanctions.
