The declaration of the operation Amotekun by the federal government owing to the fact that the Initiative runs contrary to the Nigerian law. Chairman of the south west governors Governor Rotimi Akeredelu promise a response tot the Federal Government on the matter.
Amotekun was recently established as initiative by the Government forum of the south west as a security organization to help secure the south west region, since thursday the 9th of january 2020 of its inaugurations in Ibadan the uyo State Capital to complement the work of the Police. According to a Statement made Public today from the office of the ministry of justice and the office of the Attorney General of the federation, Says the setting up of the Amotekun outfit runs contrary to the provision of the Nigerian law. 
The statement which says the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria as amended has established the Army, Navy, and Airforce including the Police and other Numerus para- military organizations for the purpose of the defense of Nigeria. The AGF also noted however that no state government whether singular or as a group has the right and competence to establish any formal organization or agency for the defense of Nigeria or any of its constituent parts, stating that the office of the attorney General and ministry of Justice was not consulted on the matter.
Reaction has been intense by the south west leadership over the position of the Federal Government over the operation Code Named “Amotekun”. The chairman of the south west Governors forum Mr. Rotimi Akeredelu has said that the government of the region has not yet met since the pronouncement from the office of the Attorney general to the federation declaring Amoteku Illegal.
