In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the Nigerian music industry and its ardent fans are plunged into mourning as the news of the untimely death of the fast-rising rapper, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka MohBad, at the tender age of 27, spreads like wildfire. 
MohBad, who was formerly signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records and left the label in 2022, had been on an incredible trajectory towards stardom, capturing the hearts of many with his unique lyrical prowess and charismatic stage presence. GOLDEN PAGE MAGAZINE gathered that the shocking loss has left a void in the industry that will be challenging to fill.
MohBad’s sudden demise sent shockwaves across the nation, with tributes and expressions of sorrow from fans, fellow artists, and celebrities alike across social media platforms.
Music executive Ovie via his X handles announced the death of the singer, saying ‘It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of Promise Oladimeji Aloba PK/A Mohbad (Imole) today’ on the 12th of September, 2023.
The social media kept buzzing as fans through their tweets and posts kept remembering his hit tracks and energetic performances, while peers in the music industry shared their personal memories of the rising star.
GOLDEN PAGE MAGAZINE checked the X app trends on this unfortunate incident and discovered a hashtag #RIPMohBad trending which showcases the profound impact the singer had on the Nigerian music scene— it also serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the profound influence artists like MohBad have on Nigeria’s culture and hearts.
Mohbad laid to rest 
Amidst conflicting reports surrounding the singer’s death [which is yet unknown], Netizens from all walks of life took to their social media handles to share clips as he was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
He was buried on September 13, less than 24 hours after he was confirmed dead in line with Islamic rites, several clips on social media showed the burial procession starting from when his white coffin was brought down from the car to when his remains were lowered to the ground.
After his burial, Netizens shared their favorite MohBad songs and recounted how his music had touched their lives, making many who didn’t know the singer in Adam during his lifetime get to know how touching his music could have been.
Some tweets of people who got to know him through the trend revealed that his lyrical depth and magnetic stage presence made him a force to be reckoned with, depicting that ‘his loss is deeply felt by a nation that had watched his star steadily rise.’
Mohbad struggles till death – 24 years old partner says
Late Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi, left widowed far too soon, bears the weight of her loss with a heavy heart. Her eyes, once filled with the light of shared dreams and laughter, now carry the profound sadness of an empty chair at the dinner table and an unspoken yearning for the warmth of her husband’s presence.
GOLDEN PAGE MAGAZINE through her social media platforms found out that the absence of her husband’s voice in their home echoes through the rooms, and she finds solace in the cherished memories they created together, often seeking refuge in old photographs and love letters, as she navigates the bittersweet journey of widowhood, marked by both enduring sorrow and a resilient spirit.
The 24-year-old disclosed via her social media handles that Mohbad struggled till death having battled too much pain, threat among others, saying ‘He had always lived with fears, continuous fights everywhere he goes too, he has never been happy for a whole day.’
Omowunmi added that the late singer was called a junkie, a mad person, mentally unstable so the public would have another view about him— letting out that those behind the aforementioned won the trophy after he’s dead.
She said: “Ya’ll make a widow at 24 years. Olorun idajo re daaa (sic),” she wrote in a series of posts on her Insta story.
“Nothing makes him happy anymore, even after seeing his baby he became more worried, he’s now a family man he doesn’t want anything to happen to us.”
According to her, “I was supposed to collect my baby’s passport yesterday so we could process our travelling, he always says to me, Wunmi pls go for my baby’s sake, I wouldn’t want these people to harm you and him, it will break me. You just go, let me face them myself. Ilerioluwa rest in peace You really need that peace.”
His former record label boss’s silence
A few hours after Mohbad was announced dead, screenshots and videos started surfacing online attributing the cause of his death to the boss of his former record label (Marlian Records), Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley.
This according to findings said to have resulted from an old video of singer Bella Shmurda in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo which revealed that the late singer was once attempted suicide after a dispute with his former label, Marlian Records.
But Naira Marley via his Instagram stories shared a simple heartbreak emoji to pay a tribute to the singer. 
As of press time, GOLDEN PAGE MAGAZINE could not confirm whether the late singer and the ‘Soapy’ crooner had settled their dispute.
Mohbad’s death: Don’t let them use my death to promote my glory– Portable
Yesterday, GOLDEN PAGE MAGAZINE learnt that Nigerian controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has prayed against people using his death to enhance his reputation.
The Zazu Zeh crooner prayer came after the tragic news of his colleague MohBad’s passing.
Portable wrote: “As you dey pray for money dey pray make the money last. As you dey pray make he last dey pray make you last… a closed mouth is a close destiny forget hurrying your water will never float past you Appreciate God for what you are hoping for and as you do so testimony shall follow ZAZUU IKA OF AFRICA.
“On God who get God no dey carry last today is another day another blessing. We can never lose again God please I don’t want to die young don’t let them use my death @ promote my glory let the world celebrate me when am still alive.”
