President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raisi, who was killed by helicopter crash yesterday.
It was reported on Sunday that a helicopter carrying President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was involved in a hard landing while visiting a northern region.
The President was later confirmed dead by local media stations in Iran.
Reacting to the news, Tinubu, in a statement issued on Monday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, extended his condolences to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
President Tinubu expressed deep grief over the disturbing tragedy and described President Raisi as a leader who was passionately committed to the development of Iran.
Tinubu, while commiserating with the bereaved families and the Iran authority, prayed for the continuous peace, stability, and prosperity of the country.
