The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has initiated a housing summit in an attempt to provide affordable accommodation for its officers and improve their welfare.
NPF’s Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement on X, said the NPF is bent on tackling the pressing issue of housing for it’s officers by initiating a housing summit that is affordable.
The NPF, under the visionary leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is poised to tackle one of the most pressing issues facing its officers.
The IGP made it his mission to engender an efficient, effective, well-trained and highly motivated workforce, with deliberate efforts aimed at improving the capacity and welfare of all officers and men of the Force.
He hereby initiated the first-ever NP Housing Summit which is slated to commence on the 22nd-23rd of April 2024 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja and this Summit would mark a significant step towards addressing the housing needs of police personnel across the country.
IGP Egbetokun made it a top priority to ensure that every police officer has access to decent and affordable accommodation after recognizing the critical issue of the inadequacy faced by many officers within the NPF thus affecting their well-being and performance on duty.
The housing summit, according to the statement, is defined to be a crucial event aimed at addressing the housing needs and challenges faced by the men and officers of the NPF. It would bring together stakeholders from various sectors including government officials, housing experts, real estate developers, financial institutions, and community organizations to explore innovative solutions to the housing crisis facing police officers.
The ultimate goal would be to foster discussions and devise strategies that will help improve the living conditions of police officers. This is in recognition of the essential role they play in ensuring safety in the community.
The NPF therefore aimed to add partnerships with private developers to provide cost-effective housing solutions that meet the unique needs of police officers and their families and improve the quality and safety of housing, creating an environment that is conducive to the mental and physical wellness of these officers.
