A 300-level medical student met a tragic end yesterday following injuries sustained in a brutal assault allegedly orchestrated by his course mates.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the institution’s clinic on Friday.
Unijos’ security unit confirmed the incident, stating that the victim’s body has been transferred to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for further examination through autopsy procedures.
According to statements from the acting Chief Security Officer of Unijos, Agama Solomon, the brutal assault reportedly stemmed from a bribery scandal involving the victim and the suspect.
The suspect, purportedly a fellow student, claimed to have given the victim ₦30,000 in exchange for securing favorable exam grades through a technician. However, when the results were released and the suspect failed to achieve the desired outcome, tensions escalated dramatically.
Allegedly feeling aggrieved by the outcome of the bribery attempt, the suspect was said to orchestrate a violent attack against the victim, resulting in fatal injuries.
