The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought charges against Binance Holdings Limited and two of its top executives, Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, with allegations of money laundering totalling $35,400,000.

The EFCC has taken full control of the case from the Office of the National Security Adviser and has secured a court warrant for the arrest and extradition of Anjarwalla.

One of the top executives at Binance, Tigran Gambaryan, is being detained by the EFCC, while Anjarwalla is currently fleeing from authorities.

However, there are reports that the EFCC is collaborating with international law enforcement including Interpol, the FBI, the UK government, and the Kenyan government.

Also, the EFCC is actively pursuing Anjarwalla, who fled custody in Nigeria.

Following the takeover of the investigation of the alleged financial misconduct committed by Binance, the EFCC has filed five counts of money laundering against the company and its executives, Anjarwalla and Gambaryan.

The charge results in a cumulative sum of $35,400,000.

Alleged reports suggest that Anjarwalla, who holds British and Kenyan citizenship, used a Kenyan passport to flee Nigeria, leaving his colleague in custody.

However, Binance confirmed his departure from the country and pledged cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

Anjarwalla’s escape raised concerns within security agencies, as he managed to evade from a ‘secure’ location guarded by soldiers.

The NSA also confirmed that the security guards on duty had been detained.
