President Bola Tinubu on Friday expressed grief upon learning of the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.
Tinubu in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngalale, extended condolences to the Olubadan family, the Oyo State government, and the entire populace of Ibadanland for the magnitude of their loss.
While mourning the Olubadan, President Tinubu also celebrated his distinguished life of service to his people and the nation.
The President said in a heartfelt farewell: “His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, was an exceptional king who used his ancestral stool in the service of humanity. He was compassionate, courageous, and an unrelenting advocate of the pristine ideals of peace, honesty, and unity. His wise counsel will be sorely missed at this time in the life of our country.”

Encouraging solace in sorrow, the President urged mourners to take comfort in the enduring legacy of the Olubadan, emphasizing the immortal nature of his deeds and the lasting impact of his essence.
He offered prayers for the repose of the departed soul and solace to those mourning the loss.
Oba Balogun died on Thursday at the age of 81. He reigned for two years, having been presented the Staff of Office by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on 11 March 2022.
