The Police in Lagos state has arrested a woman, named Rukayat, for allegedly poisoning her one-year-old daughter with an insecticide.
According to information received from an unnamed source, it was revealed that the infant was suffering from epileptics and the sickness had made the mother suffer untold hardship due to the frequency of the attack.
It was discovered that the mother of the poisoned minor committed the murder so as to avoid further stress and troubles the child usually gave her.
While speaking to reporters, the unnamed source stated that “One Rukayat brought her one-year-and-seven-month-old daughter to LUTH for treatment. Later that same day, she confessed to have poisoned her child with an insecticide because she could not continue with her daughter having epilepsy. She said she wanted to rest from the stress”.
In response to the unfortunate incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, who later confirmed the event of the minor’s death as a result of poisoning, said that Rukayat has been arrested and taken to the police station for proper questioning.
The PPRO said, “Detectives of the division were immediately drafted to the hospital, and they met the baby receiving treatment, and the mother has been taken into custody after treatment, and the investigation is ongoing.”
