Nigerian author and social media influencer, Reno Omokri, has once again emphasized the importance of supporting indigenous companies over foreign ones, following DStv’s bias expressed in the show of the match between the two countries.

In the wake of the recent penalty shootout drama between South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Omokri took to social media to voice his concerns.

Expressing dissatisfaction with DStv’s coverage of the match, the former Special Assistant to President Goodluck highlighted their failure to broadcast the crucial moment when Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, made a critical save.

In the tweet, Omokri suggested that DStv’s ownership and control might have influenced their decision to omit the pivotal moment from their coverage. He however contrasted it with the inclusion of the scene on the national broadcaster, NTA.

Reno underscored the importance of supporting local media outlets and businesses, urging Nigerians to opt for local alternatives such as NTA, Channels, and AIT for their news consumption needs.

In his message, he cautioned against spending money on foreign companies that he believes may hinder the nation’s progress and thwart individual destinies. Omokri’s advocacy for the patronage of Nigerian-made products and services aligns with his ongoing campaign to stimulate economic growth and foster national pride.

As the AFCON tournament unfolds, his words serve as a reminder of the power of consumer choices in shaping the economic landscape and national identity.
