Peter Obi Visits Gov. Makinde Over Ibadan Explosion

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has visited Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to sympathize with him over the explosion that rocked the ancient city.

Following an explosion which had occurred at Dejo Oyelese Close, Bodija Housing Estate in Ibadan a few weeks ago and killed 7 people including a hotel manager who died out of shock from the bang, the former governor of Anambra State, alongside his aides, visited Makinde in the early hours of Monday to commiserate with him.

The visit was his first public outing to a governor in the South Western States after the presidential election that gave victory to President Bola Tinubu.

This goodwill move has raised the speculation of possible coalition between the opposition parties to wrestle power from Tinubu led All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2027.

Governor Makinde commended the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for paying a visit to him.

The Governor thanked him for burying political differences and coming to sympathize with him and the people of the state over the unfortunate incident.

This visit shows that we can come together to promote national interest above political differences,” Makinde stated.

Past Presidential Election

It would be recalled that the Labour Party (LP) Presidential flag bearer, Peter Obi, scored 6, 101, 533 to come third in the polls greeted with alleged irregularities.

Bola Tinubu who scored 8, 739, 249 votes defeated  Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP who got 6, 984 ,520.
